Melzer vs De Loore
Melzer defeated Diez in two sets in Chennai but was then knocked out by Chung in two. I think its only good as he does not have the condition to compete in several competitions shortly after one another and his focus has most likely been on the Australian Open all along.
He's facing his national De Loore who I like and think will have a good season this year but Melzer is too good for him. Had Melzer made a longer run in Chennai I most likely would not take this bet but he has had ten days to prepare for this first qualifying match in AO and I am confident he will try to make the most of it. De Loore usually struggles versus experienced players and I don't see this as an exception.
What is also worth noticing is that De Loore plays his absolute best tennis on clay. Last year he was 23/6 on hardcourt but only 1 of those wins came in an ATP tournament and that was the qualifications for US Open. He won two Futures where he collected twelve wins.
