Columbus Blue Jackets until recently have been in super long winning streak. It was one of the longest winning streaks in NHL ever, maybe even the longest but I would need double check for that. In any case, even 16 straight victories for Blue Jackets before they were stopped two days ago by Washington Capitals, 5:0. So, it was very tough loss for current NHL leader. It is expected in short period of time this team will be back on the winning track but I don't think it is going to happen today. Usually after such long positive streaks, one tough loss was followed by another defeat. New York Rangers surely can make some damage to home team. It is worth of mention that Rangers are one of best on the road this season. 14-6 for them away from home and 7-1 in last eight.
The Rangers also dominate in the most recent H2H. Though, Columbus won the only mutual game in the season so far, 4:2 on this same ice in November but that was the only success for Blue Jackets against NY Rangers counting last eight these two played each other.
