In the first semifinal at the Indian Wells Premier Mandatory tournament, Serena Williams and Agnieszka Radwanska will face off. Radwanska continues to play a high quality tennis this season; in this tournament she had only a hiccup in her first match against Cibulkova, after playing sublime tennis in the first set and she had the chance to break in the second she lost her rythm midway through and had to even save a match point in order to win that match in a 3 sets thriller. Afterwards her game has been rock solid, she didn't lose any sets anymore against maybe tougher opposition: Niculescu, Jankovic and Kvitova. Her defensive game at the moment is in a league of its own, her adversaries have to assume many risks looking for the lines in order to win the point also having a bag full of tricks makes her a tough opponent for everyone...except Serena Williams. The younger one of the Williams rarely had problems with Aga, she won all their 9 encounters on the tour, Agnieszka's only victory came last season in Hopman Cup, not an WTA sanctioned event. They also met in the semis at AO this year and Serena played some unbelieveble tennis, especially in the first set, and even with Radwanska's ressurgence in the second set the american won in straights. Of course Serena could turn up, spraying winners all over the court, molesting the pole once again and win this one in under one hour. But Radwanska seems more able than ever to take on the big hitters that she struggled heavily against in the past. If Serena doesn't raise her level and plays like she did against Halep she might have big problems winning this one. Radwanska will find it very hard to win against SW but I think she could snatch a set here.
